I believe we can all find our feet in this world

You're here because something isn’t quite where it should be. Maybe you're part of a corporate team adapting to a new reality. Maybe you’ve hit a wall — a personal setback, a professional disappointment, or a crisis that’s shaken your confidence.

I get it, I’ve been there.

I’m Mark Berridge – a Brisbane-based motivational speaker, award-winning author, resilience coach and optimist at heart.

A life-altering cycling accident left me with a spinal injury and a future I didn’t choose. I had to rebuild from the ground up — to quite literally find my feet again, one determined step at a time.

Now I help others do the same.

Whether I’m on stage speaking to corporate teams or writing for people navigating life’s toughest moments, my mission is to help you step into strength, rise through uncertainty, and reclaim what is possible — even when everything has changed.

Because we all face crash-like moments — illness, injury, grief, or the quiet ache of feeling stuck. And no matter the shape of your fall, I know you have the resilience to rise.

Let me help you — or your team — turn setbacks into stepping stones.

My story

One crisp, sunny morning in March 2019, my life changed forever.

A cycling accident landed me in hospital for 51 days and living with a permanent disability.

Instead of flying to Salt Lake City that evening to lead a high-stakes corporate workshop, rehabilitation became my full-time job.

After catapulting headfirst into a stormwater drain, I fractured five bones and crushed two vertebrae. In emergency surgery, two 9-inch-long rods were screwed into my spine.

Doctors couldn’t say if I would walk again.

I woke up in hospital wracked with fear about my future and guilt about the impact on my family.

I couldn’t move myself even a centimetre up the bed.

But I made a choice. I would give recovery everything I had.

I committed to improving a fraction every day. I learned to harness the power of a positive mindset, to accept help and to set and celebrate goals – even small ones.

And most of all, I learned to walk again.

It took 10 gruelling months.

Why do I Share this?

Because what helped me has impact well beyond me. It’s a mindset. A process. A way forward.

I became a motivational speaker to share the perspective that helped me step up to possibility. I’ve seen it empower others time and again – including from the Brisbane TEDx stage, where I delivered my talk “The Power of Doing Hard Things.”

I don’t believe you can do hard things because I did. I know you can do hard things because you can.

Since my accident, I’ve written a book (A Fraction Stronger, now a 16-time award winner), delivered keynote speeches around the world, become an Industry Fellow at Griffith University, and developed a resilience coaching program for people navigating life-changing adversity.

I share my story to spark possibility.
